FAQs about Online Mediations
What is Online Dispute Resolution Services?
ODR allows parties to participate in mediation by video using an online video-teleconferencing service rather than by meeting in-person. Accord Mediation uses Zoom conferencing for its ODR services.
How does ODR work?
Each participant will be given a link and instructions for password-protected online access. Just click the link and enter the meeting room. If you are unfamiliar with Zoom or need some help, just let us know and we will be happy to take you through a dry-run before the mediation so that you’ll feel comfortable logging on.
What are the benefits of ODR?
There are many benefits of participating in an online mediation. Here’s how ODR can work for you.
Easy access: Participants from different locations across the country and even the world can join in the same mediation. Also, participants with health concerns may be able to manage those issues better from the comfort of their home or location. All that is required is a reliable internet or landline connection.
Comfortable surroundings: Mediations can often be emotionally draining, but being in familiar surroundings can be comforting to participants, making them feel less anxious and more focused and supported.
Cost savings: Without the need for parking, venue and travel costs, people can expect to save both time and expenses by participating in online mediation.
If you still feel that ODR may not work for you, we can reschedule your mediation to a later date, if necessary, when everyone can safely meet in person in accordance with the Governor’s orders.
